The Boxers - Live as it Happened

According to the Frog in a Well blog the Military historian David Silbey is blogging the Boxer Uprising as seen through the reports in the New York Times. Apparently the first post in the series just went up and he’ll be archiving them. However, I can’t access his site from Shanghai for some reason so someone will have to tell me what it’s like? Click here to see if you can see it.

While we’re on the subject of the Boxers I just got round to reading the Earnshaw Books reprint of Robert Coltman’s Beleaguered in Peking, a highly partisan but informative diary from the Siege by a trapped American doctor.

Somewhat ironic that the foreigners' account of the Boxer rebellion is blocked by the Chinese government. Still need to keep those evil foreign influences at bay.

I fished around, but could not see that the actual history blogging had started. I love the concept, however.
